[endless]

it was a cold room, mostly dark except for the soft light. it seemed to waft from the windows and the crack in the door while 'coming back to life' played in the background. they stood on opposite ends of the same wall, waiting for something to

move. the large crate in the centre of the room held what they'd collected. together. they'd collected the smaller stones and gems first, and placed them in, one by one. eventually they tossed in a large, heavy rock by mistake. but it was only one. no big deal. it happens. they collected more of the smooth, cool stones and added them to their collection. more--he found a place, a cavern filled with the most beautiful gems. he convinced her to visit this cavern, and it became theirs. they stayed comfortably..until

they left one day--he stepped from the door of the cavern, and she followed him. one would go one way, the other would follow, all along they picked up all kinds of things to fill their crate. small stones, brilliant gems, but now they mostly found rocks large and heavy--too much for either of them to carry

alone. now they have the crate in the middle of the room. waiting. the gems and smooth stones are waiting to be picked back out, while they smile at each other, remembering yesterday and last week, that river and this waterfall, that face and those hands..in the middle of the room. they would take turns trying to lift the rocks just to remember where they started, forgetting how they ended here. in this room. with this crate of cool skipping stones and shining

treasure. night will fall. the light will stop seeping from the windows and the crack in the door. the music will stop playing. unless something..
